Why These Are THE Overnight Oats in Our House

These Peanut Butter Chocolate Overnight Chia Oats are THE overnight chia oat recipe in my household. They’re quick, easy, nourishing, and made with common pantry staples.

Peanut Butter + Chocolate Is Iconic for a Reason

The peanut butter chocolate flavor combo basically rules the world of healthier sweets. It seems like every healthy, high-protein/low-sugar dessert has peanut butter chocolate flavor somewhere in it. Because of this, I’ve even gone out of my way to ensure there are plenty of sweet-treat Mealybug recipes that are NOT peanut butter chocolate. Nonetheless, the combo is iconic for a reason and this recipe is no exception. They have the best macros of any of my other overnight oat recipes, AND they’re absolutely delicious.

The Secret to That Reese’s Puffs Flavor

I’m not sure exactly what makes them taste so specifically similar to Reese’s Puffs. I think it may be the slightly excessive use of vanilla extract. I remember when I was first testing this recipe out, I was worried 2 teaspoons for a 4-serving recipe may be so much that it introduces bitterness, but no. Vanilla may just be the additional component, along with peanut butter and chocolate, that give Reese’s Puffs their distinct flavor.

A Breakfast I Can Almost Always Make

I really love this recipe. Not only for its deliciousness, but also for its convenience. All of the ingredients (aside from the yogurt and milk, which I, along with many others, have in my fridge regardless), are completely shelf-stable and are common pantry essentials. That means that I can make these in a pinch no matter what. They help keep our household on track throughout the week and give us all something yummy to look forward to in the morning.

I hope you enjoy these Peanut Butter Chocolate Overnight Chia Oats as much as we do. Check out Mealybug’s Breakfast page for more flavor-packed overnight chia oat recipes!
